From a young age, I have always been taught to treat every gun as if it was loaded; finger off the trigger, muzzle always pointing down but not at your feet. It wasn’t until I was older that I started viewing my gun as a means of safety and protection.
I hold a BSIS guard card, along with an exposed weapons permit that allows me to open-carry while on duty. I am also a licensed Private Investigator and can open-carry while performing investigative duties. You might be wondering what led me to pursue this line of work. Well let me begin by explaining my family history.
My grandfather was a San Jose Police Officer in the 70s and 80s. I have uncles who are current and former Police Officers ranging from Vacaville, California to Pocatello, Idaho. Additionally, my father has been a fugitive recovery agent my entire life. For those of you who don’t know what that is, he is a bounty hunter. My exposure to the criminal justice system from a young age is what led me to pursue a career in law enforcement.
I carry a gun while working. When I am working my desk job as a bail bondsman, I sometimes keep a loaded firearm under my desk during late hours. My gun keeps me safe from armed criminals and allows me to come home at night. For me, my gun is for my own protection, and for the protection of those around me.
